Gardenex confirms continued support of Glee

Glee has confirmed that it will be working closely with Gardenex to further boost its market-leading international offering in 2010.

Building on their long established relationship, Glee and the UK-based Federation of Garden and Leisure Manufacturers Ltd, (Gardenex) will be implementing a high profile, more collaborative global marketing programme in the run up to the September exhibition (20-22 September, NEC Birmingham).  The programme is part of Glee’s commitment to continuing to deliver the best selection of overseas buyers and suppliers of any UK garden trade show, maximising international buying and selling opportunities for visiting retailers and exhibitors.

Glee’s arrangement with Gardenex follows the show’s recent announcement of closer links with other key trade associations including the Garden Centre Association (GCA) and the Garden Industry Manufacturers Association (GIMA); both of which have recognised the benefits that Glee delivers for their members.

The director general of Gardenex, Amanda Sizer Barrett commented: “We are extremely pleased to be once again be working closely with Glee, as we believe the show represents one of the finest opportunities for overseas buyers to see the best from the UK garden and leisure industry.  The continued relationship will provide benefits for our members, such as a 12.5% discount on stand space, as well as building the international status of the show through the collaborative marketing programme.  This has been designed to deliver an even greater international audience to the 2010 show.  In addition to this, Gardenex will also be looking forward to organising and manning the International Buyers’ Centre, where we look forward to welcoming a growing number of international buyers.”

Glee show director, Daniel Thurlow confirmed: "We are extremely pleased to be working so closely with Gardenex once again in the lead up to our 2010 show.  As the leading organisation in each of our fields the relationship is a natural fit, and will create the most powerful opportunity for buyers and sellers in these markets.

He continued: “It is one of our key aims to continue to develop Glee's international appeal.  Our research shows time and again that the potential to meet international exhibitors is a key attraction for many UK visitors; whilst for exhibitors the opportunity to meet so many top quality, international buyers is something that’s offered nowhere else within the garden exhibition sector.  Glee is the only show to offer the very best from across these industries under one roof; and we plan to build this offering further under the expert guidance of Gardenex in the coming months.”

Glee's international reputation is second to none.  In 2009 the exhibition welcomed more than 1,200 international visitors from 55 countries, as well as a host of international exhibitors.  Glee is also the first choice trade show for many Gardenex members.  To date, over 70% of Gardenex members who exhibited last year have already rebooked.

Gardenex, which has almost 50 years of experience in creating export trade opportunities through its services to British manufacturers and overseas buyers, will be the driving force behind Glee's international marketing campaign.  Its remit will be to maximise the show's exposure in worldwide markets, as well as driving international footfall and stimulating bookings from overseas exhibitors.

Glee is the UK’s leading trade event for the garden and leisure industry, encompassing key sectors such as plants, garden design, garden care, garden leisure, garden retail support and garden home and gift. For more information about Glee 2010 call 01923 690 663 or visit www.gleebirmingham.com.
