HOW HAS THE UK RETAIL MARKET CHANGED IN THAT TIME?
Back in the day, customers were very much focused on buying products and Kaemingk was still developing as a company and adapting the ranges to suit all the different markets and countries we were selling to. Over the years our role has developed by adding service and solutions to the product ranges delivered to our customers with the goal of supporting, where possible, sales of our ranges. We are increasingly becoming a full service supplier. In addition to offering a wide range for one-stop shopping Kaemingk advises on shelving plans, showing customers how to best display products on the shop floor and planning the best shop layout.
WHAT IS IT ABOUT YOUR PRODUCTS THAT APPEALS TO THE UK MARKET?
Kaemingk invests heavily in following the latest trends in style and colour and translates this to the wide range of categories being offered for the different seasons and occasions. Shoppers want to see something new when visiting their local store and every season at least 65% of our product ranges are revitalized by offering the latest trends and colours. As well as the product offering we also provide value for money and excellent quality. If you combine that with our logistic services and a 98% delivery rate we are renowned as a reliable supplier.
WHAT ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS IN MEETING THE NEEDS OF UK CUSTOMERS?
As a company we need to cater for our European customer base as well as the USA and we work in 86 countries. Our main consideration is that we offer a point of difference compared to the rest of the market. We offer ranges that have a ‘Kaemingk’ touch. Our designers work closely with all their suppliers and modify and create products in conjunction with them. This works throughout all ranges including the water features and garden furniture. Another consideration is that the UK has certain requirements regarding, for example, the electrical items but also the regulations with regard to safety guidelines as these differ from mainland Europe.
HOW IMPORTANT HAVE TRADE SHOWS BEEN IN BUILDING YOUR PRESENCE IN THE UK?
Trade shows have a vital role in our sales strategy as this is the place where we meet new customers, build on our existing relationships and get much appreciated feedback from our UK customers. As our main showroom is located in the Netherlands it’s not feasible for many of our customers to visit. By having a major presence at shows we can still showcase our ranges to them and make sure we are included in their range plans.
