What’s the deal?

Run by our partners Gardenex and PetQuip, the International Buyers Connect is a speed networking event held at Glee, uniting international buyers and UK and international sellers in pre-arranged, 10 minute appointments. 

The aim of the meetings is to be short yet highly effective, presenting key opportunities to make personal contact with premium brands and manufactures from across the UK and beyond. (Without wasting any precious show time) 

How can you get involved?

The International Buyers Connect service is open to all buyers, but due to high demand there are limited spaces available.

What are Gardenex and PetQuip?

Gardenex is an organisation focused on uniting British companies with international buyers looking to find innovative garden product suppliers from the UK. Its sister association, PetQuip, also provides export help and advice to both the manufacturer and the buyer, with additional business support services for members and buyers within the pet sector. 

Gardenex also offers the following free services to international trade buyers:

  • An annual Directory of British Garden & Leisure Products.  Organised by product category, the directory includes the contact details of all Gardenex member companies. The 2018/19 edition is now available. Please inquire on-stand.
  • Help and advice on finding British products and suppliers. If you are looking for a particular item or to extend your range, Gardenex can arrange for their members to send you catalogues and price lists. 
  • Previews with information on product launches from British exhibitors at key international shows such as spoga+gafa, The National Hardware Show, Interzoo, Zoomark and Global Pet Expo.
  • Meet the Supplier events held in the UK where buyers can meet with potential suppliers from the UK.

The International Buyers Centre at Glee:

Gardenex and PetQuip are also proud to host the The International Buyers' Centre located in Hall 18, Stand 6S18 -T19. Open to all international visitors, the area features a cloakroom, interpreters, free refreshments and lots of information and advice about the show and British manufacturers.  

The Gardenex team will be on hand throughout with the latest directory of British Garden & Leisure Products and Services, details of their forthcoming Meet the Suppliers events, and other services.

Meuwissen Agro BV is a Dutch importer / distributor of garden products supplying independent garden centres, landscape businesses and garden centre chains such as Intratuin and Life & Garden.  This company has very recently acquired De Wiltfang bv, a well-established B2C garden online store, along with its sister company Larix Gardenware bv, a wholesale distribution business specialising in high-end garden items.  For the owner this means an expansion, both in products and in customer base and suppliers. 

The buyer would like to meet existing suppliers of the newly acquired businesses and is also looking for complementary garden products to add to the range.

Gärtner Pötschke is a leading German specialist garden mail order company and online shop.  Its buyers are regular visitors to Glee and source products from many Gardenex members. 

The two buyers attending are looking for innovative practical and decorative garden products, particularly those not already available on the German market. 

They are looking especially for products on the general theme of ’pets, nature and wildlife in the garden’ – anything from nature-friendly plants and products to rabbit hutches, chicken-houses, wild bird products etc.

They are happy to work with UK companies that are new to exporting.

ACM Agrocentrum – Poland

Polish distributor, retailer and online sales

ACM Agrocentrum is a Polish importer / distributor of hobby greenhouses and other practical garden products sourced from the UK, with over 20 years’ experience in greenhouse sales.  The company supplies garden centre retailers, not the DIY sector.  It has also acted as importer / distributor supplying farmers with plant protection, fertiliser, feed and tools for 25 years.

 

In addition, ACM Agrocentrum operates 3 online shops selling to end-users at www.agrosklep.pl (a broad range of garden items from boots / gloves to watering equipment, pest control and bird food), www.topszklarnie.pl and www.kupszklarnie.pl (hobby greenhouses) and Allegro (plants).  The company also operates 6 retail garden centres / shops and 2 wholesale outlets.

Knorr Gábor KG - British Garden – Austria

British Garden is an internet shop based in Austria that was founded by Knorr Gabor in 2010 and sells to Germany and Austria.  Although the British Garden website is a relatively new venture, the company has been involved in wholesaling and internet sales in other sectors since 1994. The internet shop stocks quality tools and other practical, decorative and wildlife products – also gifts with a British feel.  Gabor Knorr took part in a Gardenex Meet the Buyer event in 2011 and has become a regular visitor to Glee.   As a result, he already works with several UK suppliers (Burgon & Ball, Tildenet, Gabriel Ash, Harrod Horticultural, Haddonstone, etc). 

 

The company has also recently been developing a showroom and show garden featuring multiple British brands and is always looking for quality British products to complement the existing range

Neogard AG – Switzerland

Swiss distributor of garden products.

Established in 1988, Neogard is a leading Swiss importer/wholesaler of garden products.  Its customers include garden centres, DIY and online stores throughout Switzerland. It has more than 30,000sqm of warehouse space and employs up to 50 people. Neogard offers a very broad range of products: Garden buildings and storage boxes, greenhouses, plant care, aggregates and paving, fencing and decking, decoration, pond and watering products, furniture, play equipment and lighting. Neogard already imports from leading UK suppliers.

 

The buyer is looking for new innovative gardening products for season 2019.
