Mr Plant Geek joins Glee as the exhibition’s first-ever ambassador
In an exciting move, Michael Perry – better known as Mr Plant Geek – will be joining Glee 2023 (27th – 29th June, NEC Birmingham) as the exhibition’s first ever ‘ambassador’.
In his new role, Michael Perry will bring his extensive knowledge and passion for all things horticulture to the very heart of Glee. From supporting the all-new Talent Store, to leading plant-based content on the exhibition’s educational hub, The Stage, Michael’s input is set to further elevate Glee’s very own ‘green heart’ by placing the emphasis on the exciting growth of plants, especially the boom in houseplants amongst younger consumers.
From his TV work with the likes of QVC, This Morning and Steph’s Packed Lunch to The Plant Based Podcast alongside Ellen Mary, or his new book – Hortus Curious, which takes a closer look at the world's most weird and wonderful plants and fungi – Michael always offers a truly unique and fun take on the world of fauna and flora. It is this fresh look that visitors and exhibitors at Glee 2023 can expect to see through Michael’s ambassadorial role in the lead up to and during the June show.
Talking about his new role, Michael Perry said: “I had not attended Glee for almost 15 years. I broke the seal in 2022 and was incredibly impressed by what I saw. The 2022 event really inspired me to get involved to help further evolve Glee’s content and cement its position as a key date within the horticultural trade calendar.
“I'm super happy to join in an ambassador role, where I hope to bring some exciting new concepts, with a focus on positioning new products in the right way in order to get the best exposure and buyer take-up. I am feeling super enthused about the Talent Store, and am excited to share more details about some of the other projects we’ll be launching at the show including ‘One Minute Sells’, ‘Future Plants’, as well as facilitating discussions around the current trends that are driving market change."
Matthew Mein, Glee Event Director welcomed Michael on board by saying: “Glee has been an avid follower of Michael and the Mr Plant Geek platform for some time, so to have him join as an ambassador is an exciting prospect. Michael has a phenomenal vision for the world of horticulture, and we have no doubt that his input is going to add significant value for anyone at Glee 2023. It’s a superb prospect to be placing plants right back at the heart of Glee where they belong.”
