Sylvie Verinder

CEO, TumbleBug
Sylvie Verinder founded Tumblebug during lockdown 2020 with the Vision of creating regenerative circular solution for organic waste. With a degree and postgraduate degrees in Environmental Chemistry and Waste Management, her career spans 36 years as a landfill scientist, waste management regulator, operations manager, and environmental consultant. She has extensive experience in waste policy, legislation, circular economy, plastics recycling, AD, composting, ocean plastic, life cycle analysis, environmental impact assessments and energy recovery. Mid-career she left the industry (before returning in 2012) to teach – believing strongly that in order to change the way we view our relationship with Earth’s Resources we need to teach critical thinking and creative problem solving skills. She is currently also Stakeholder Director for CRDC Global which addresses closing the loop for plastic waste and has developed the REAP (Recover Enrich Appreciate Prosper) education curriculum which is being rolled out in schools, colleges and Universities across Samoa as part of a United Nations Development Programme for the Small Island Developing States.
